well, that's one side to the point, but there's also
another idea popping up in my head.
Here in Germany U2 were always very popular
and succesful (since JT all Albums entered the
charts at #1), especially during the 80's.
I think a lot of people have the older material
anyway and therefore didn't see the need to immediately
go and buy the Best Of. I think though that it'll remain
strong in the charts until Christmas time (this is just
THE perfect gift :) while Alanis will drop.

Over here there was nearly no marketing strategy,
but her track from the "City of Angels" Soundtrack
(Uninvited) was played heavily on the radio while it
wasn't even a single. Her previous album was also
pretty big here and it seems people really wanted
new material from her and I must admit that I also
own those albums and like them - flame away if you
like.

By the way, the previous week REM's "UP" entered
the charts here at #1 but dropped to #11 this week.
