some thoughts on current threads

First, my thoughts on Where the Streets Have No Name. I actually didn't
really appreciate this song very much until after experiencing it live.
Even then, it wasn't like as soon as I saw it, I had a huge rush of
realization. After I was done seeing 4 of my 5 PopMart concerts and was
waiting 6 months for the next one, I heard Streets on the radio one day
and just started to feel really excited. It really brought the concert
feeling back to me. Then I got some PopMart recordings, and listening
to Streets live just made me love it even more. So by the time I went
to Atlanta to see them, Streets was the song I was most looking forward
to. And now I think it probably gives the best live experience of any
of their songs. But, alas, I'm still not that into listening to it from
the Joshua Tree. I am more likely to pull out PopHeart if I feel like
hearing it.

Now to move on, I am curious where this idea of U2 doing a Passengers 2
has come from. I have been reading recent articles and stuff, and I
never heard anything about it. In fact, I doubt they'll ever do another
Passengers at all unless they leave Larry out since he really seemed to
have some late-breaking bad feelings about that (Larry hates Passengers,
loves Playboy Mansion ;-). My own prediction for next year is that
regardless of whether they put out another Best Of (which hopefully they
would wait another year to do, but whatever), they will have their new
album by the end of the year because they've been in the studio off and
on since May and apparently are hard at work at the moment, so in all
they would have at least a year of studio time and be able to get the
album done for Christmas of 1999.

Anyway, I think secretly they are determined to tour in 2000 so they can
call the tour U2000! ;-) LOL
