Chart news (NL and a bit of ES)

Hi wire,

Here is some news from how TBO is doing in Europe. First, the
Netherlands. Last week, the album entered the charts at #3. Number one
was Boyzone and two was Alanis (who apperently had already entered the
week before, because she rose from #4 to #2). This week, however, U2 is
number one (with Boyzone and Alanis at 2 and 3). I do not know how many
albums they have sold in NL as I am currently in Spain (and I only see
the chart positions in a Dutch paper).
The Sweetest Thing entered the charts at #10, then rose to #7 before
falling to #12. This week, the single experienced a huge drop as it fell
to #25.

Now, Spain. I cannot really tell about chart positions, as I dont know
where to find them here. I can only tell about my experiences. In Madrid
the album seems to be selling really well. Many stores have already run
out of their stock of the limited edition. And you have to know that for
example the FNAC had a huuuge stock of the limited edition. However, as
I said before, I dont know any exact positions here (any Spaniards here
who know more?), it is just my impression.

BTW, I do have a question for John (Ciao John that is). Could you please
also take a look at the Catalog chart of Billboard if you ahve the
time/opportunity. I just want to know if U2s back catalog is also
selling more. I have a feeling that it does, but I dont know for sure.
Thanks.

One last thing. If you want to have a good U2 chart feeling, go to the
billboard site (http://www.billboard.com) and then to the chart rewind
of ten years ago. Because who is number 1? Right! Rattle and hum, baby!

Marty

Tell me the definition of a sell-out
Cast your first stone and then get the hell out
People say they know me, I can tell you that they dont
People say they own me, I can tell you that they wont
