Thoughts about the 'last album'.

I know, I know, this last album thing is only speculation, but I've
gone through a period of "U2 are gonna break up tommorrow" type stuff.

When U2 came to Melbourne for PopMart earlier in the year, I had
followed the tour since Las Vegas. For some reason, it didn't seem as
smart-arse to me as ZooTV (which I've only seen on video). PopMart
seemed to be more open sincerity. Then, two days before U2 landed in
Melbourne, the radio station did a 3 hour segment on U2 which included
interviews and snippets from the press conference after the show. The
press asked Bono about Michael Hutchence and Bono just went quiet, he
just said "Oh god...we don't have to start with that, do we?" He
seemed sad throughout the conference (not just about Hutch). Then,
when the radio station played an interview with Bono, he said
something along the lines of "If we go into the studio, and don't have
some rockin' tunes...you'll never hear from us again." That comment
froze me, and still does to this day.

Then, of course, I saw the Sweetest Thing video. Bono being silly
again. They'll be back, again, and again. It's U2, they're addicted to
this stuff!!!!!!
