Edge: the "key" to the joy theme?

There is something about Edge that gives me the impression of joy and
that he could be a "key" to the new album.

The new version of Sweetest Thing sounds a lot happier and poppier
than the orginal thanks to the Edge's guitar melodies in the bridge
and his backing vocals which makes the song more "fresh" and not
monotonous like the original which has Bono also saying the part "the
sweetest thing." I'm not saying one version is better than the other
but all I'm saying is that the newer one seems to be more joyful
thanks to the Edge.

The LATE LATE performace of "All I Want Is You" sounded a lot happier
with the Edge's backing vocals (for the first time in a live version
of this song), and it even reflected is his slighly different guitar
arrangement used.

Could it be that Edge is now a happy man? The guitar solo of Love Is
Blindness always gives me a feeling of despair and sadness, it almost
as if it was teh Edge speaking from his heart. In the past, Edge's
repetitive lines give the impression of wandering and constantly
seeking but never finding (just like in I Still Haven't Found), while
some of his other wandering reverb-laden licks, give an aura of
happiness in simplicity and humility (as opposed to the pointless
figer acrobatics of other bands that point to nothing but mere
arrogance of their fingering speed ...Edge wouldn't stoop to that
level). Flame me for this, but I feel that sometimes Edge adn his
guitar can convey just as much emotions as Bono's singing (on rare
ocassions, the emotion released seems to even be more).

Well, I just hope to see Edge keep up the "happy" work and I hope the
band doesn't "jinx" the album by speaking too early about what they
intend (about the "joy" theme). They spoke too early about Pop and
everyone expected a wild and wooly rock and roll album which wasn't
the case.

Bye for now,

Jovi
