Early memories and more...

I love this thread, it brings back so many memories. My earliest was from
1983, when my dad bought War and played New Years Day all the time. I was
only 11 and was just getting into music at the time. The funny thing is that
the album was soon switched from my dad's pile to mine. He still laughs
about it now, whenever I play it, he'll say "hey, I bought that and you
stole it".
I also remember watching MTV with my best friend a year later (I think
it was before Much Music existed, so we thought we were really cool
having a satelite dish). Anyways, they played Pride, and we would scream
"in the name of love..." at the top of our lungs while the rest of her
family would yell at us to shut up.
And of course, there's also watching Live Aid for 16 hours in a row.
What an amazing day...
High school dances with people carrying white flags, dancing to Sunday
Bloody Sunday... etc.... so many cool memories...

On a related note, my sister is 12 years younger than me so she's pretty
much grown up with U2 being played all the time. She's always known them but
was never really into music until last year. Her CD player just broke so
she's left with all my vinyl. Now I phone her and I hear my U2 albums in
the background. She's also been watching my old video tapes from the 80's
with U2 spotlights and interviews, and she wants to see them with me on
their next tour. :)
