Hi there wire..:)

I keep seeing all these great post about what got you hooked on U2.
Well here is mine.

I have always like u2, but only being 19 right now, i wasn't lucky
enough to really remmeber JT coming out. But i did like the songs. I
would sing along where i heard them on the radio. But that never really
was what got me. I remember sitting one night at my Grandparents house
in Winnipeg watching Much Music. I live in the country at back then,
couldn't get cable..:P so anywhere, it was dark, i was eating some
potato chips and then i heard it.. the first little guitar bit, some
fucky base and this man, sitting in a bar with a cigarette in his hand
singing about love. "One love, one life.." i was spellbound. I loved
the song. I wrote donw the title and the band and the next day i ran
out to by AB on tape. I listened to it all the time and even made the
volley ball team i was on in grade 9 listen to it while we practice (out
team song became ZOO STATION:P) anyway, i remember hearing NUMB on the
radio when it came out and loved it! but because it wasn't bono's voice
i didn't reconize it and the radiostation ever said who did the song.
So all upset, i went home. the next day i went to a music store, i
walked in and saw the U2, the band that owned the only tape i have worne
out, had a new ablum out "Zooropa." I was itching for some new music
and said to myself "Well i liked, AB, so i bet i will like this" and
bought it. I took it home, gave it a listen and BAM! When NUMB came on
i flipped! i was hooked! :) I then bought a few of the earlier albums
(JT, War, etc). But it wasn't until 1997 that things really took off.
I became friends with this great guy that introduced me to the world of
BOOTLEGS (god bless his soul!). We were all excited about the new U2
single and the coming up tour and album. We bought tix for tthe show
and started collectiong all the single. The day of popmart was one i
will remember forever (thanks edge for giving us that thumbs up! you
made waiting outside form 6 AM worth it). After the show i was moved to
tears by the power and sheer strength the band had! i just wept as they
played One, my then BF thinking i was probally crazy..:) AFter the
show, i had to hear it all, have everything! from only having two u2
tapes in 1993-4 to having over 150 CD's, Bootlegs, tapes and Vynil now,
i am U2 crazy! :) so tahnks MR. TONY PILO :P tee hee. YOU, my friend,
HAVE CREATED A MONSTAR! :)

 thanks wire! :)
