Hi ya Wirelings,

I do think some people are being a little over protective and
unrealistic about Bono to think he never did *any* durgs at all.
I well remember the late 80's here in Hollywood (hehehhe).
Coke was everywere and in all areas of showbusiness.
Bono can be a wild and extreme guy from what I've seen,
but, thank God, he dosen't seem to be an "addictive personality"
like poor ol' Adam ;)
If Bono has done some drugs in the past he never got out of
hand and made a spectacle of himself (at least in a non-musical
way ;) He's very conscious of the influence he can have on fans
and would never sit around talking about it to interviewers.
Also, I have heard that the official band-doctors tend to have
pretty free access to the bands they work with. They know
everybody's secrets and I'm suprised more of them haven't
told stories over the years.

Now, this doctor was talking about the JT tour in 1987 if I
remember correctly. I have a Bono quote for you from the
Rolling Stone interview of May 7, 1987 called "Truth and
Consequences".
"We were the freak show for a while," Bono says. "We felt like
fish out of water. 'What are we doing in rock & roll?' We
almost felt that we should do drugs out of *guilt*, to make
people feel at home." Bono says he did give in to some standard
rock vices. "I've kind of evened out now, but over the last few
years, I've backlashed completely. Drank far too much and did
far too many things out of this odd, weird reverse guilt."

I think that's as specific as he's every likely to get:)

Robbie

P.S. Bet ja Bono inhaled now and then while Howie B was in
the studio with 'em ;)
