those involved in this argument essentially saying either

A) "no i refuse to believe he does drugs cause if he does he wouldn't be
perfect and we all know bono's perfect! all of you are liars! waaaaaah. .
."

or

B) "i don't know if he does drugs or not but if he does then whoop-dee-doo,
so what?"

i think we can all agree that IF bono does or did do drugs then it didn't
affect his work in any negative way. the people in group A just have a
problem reconciling a lack of deterioration with drug use because it clashes
with government/media propaganda shoving extreme examples in everybody's
face. the whole "drugs are bad" thing is so ridiculous. drugs aren't bad,
abusing them is. if you can't exercise restraint that's your problem. if
your life is so fucked up and drug abuse seems like an easy way out then
don't blame the drugs, blame your lack of inner strength.

IT IS POSSIBLE to take drugs and enjoy them without becoming a slave to
them.

in the end we're not trying to convince you that bono does coke, nor are we
praying that he does in the hope of achieving some sense of vindication.
just saying that if he does then IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL.

when i read the subject of this post i thought i was in for a flaming.
thank god your ire was directed at this ELIS guy. whew, no need to dredge
out another redundantly defensive argument.

since you say "I dont talk about things unless I know at least some of what
i'm talking about", i'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that
you yourself are a drug user or was one at some point in time, and all this
venom is the result of a bad experience caused by some un-kosher product.
how else could you confidently say something like "drugs are bad" unless you
have first-hand evidence to back it up?

in which case, go ask your dealer for a replacement or refund. no need to
embark on this crusade, *shudder* you might give drugs a bad name.

cheers
