Actually it is Peggy Seeger that wrote Springhill Mining Disaster. I
was pretty sure
of this, and looked it up last night...it is true...Peggy Seeger. She's
a folk artist
in her own right, and wrote this beautiful song, which just happens to
be about
Springhill Nova Scotia, a town just down the road from here...most
famous for
producing Anne Murray (a Canadian singer) and the mine disaster itself.
BTW...
Springhill is in Cumberland County, thus the line "Down in the Dark of
the Cumberland mines..."
