I find it quite amusing how people can try to stand up and defend Bono
on Wire as if they know him. Among all the songwriters, it is Bono
who is not ashamed to write about his addiction. It is quite obvious
from the meaning of his songs.

Here are some excerpts:

DISCOTHEQUE - "can't get enough of that lovey dovey stuff" (hmm..I
wonder what)

EBTTRT - "take me higher" (what else could be better than the real
thing....the real coke as compared to coca-cola..remmebr their slogan
before)

RTSS - "sweet the sin but bitter the taste in my mouth" (yeah I wonder
what sin this is)

ONE - "bad taste in you mouth", "higher" (his falsetto really makes
him seem like he's so high)

WGRYWH - "the deeper I spin" (what substance could make him spin and
make him sin?)

BAD - "If I could you know I would" (if he could but he can't because
he is addicted)

IN GOD'S COUNTRY - "Sleep comes like a drug" (how can he use this
metaphor if he hasn't trie drugs?)

A.S.O.Homecoming - "and you hunger for the time, time to heal desire
time" (only up to hungering for it but never achieving it because the
drugs has really got him hooked ...same theme as Streets and I Still
Haven't FOund ..always trying but never there)

Desire - "getting higher" (well, the song says a lot)

Bono's songwriting says a lot more than what his interviews say. This
is just a sampling list of songs. They can go on forever. Two things
are prominent in Bono's songwriting: he uses the first person and he
always uses the word "higher". So if he uses the first person, it
must mean that he is in some way involved in whatever he is wrting
about (including Bad and RTSS).

Only a drug induced person can do those stage antics Bono used to
break his chin and his shoulder. No matter how subtle the hints are,
Bono just can't escape drugs in his songwriting.

I am pretty sure we will see a lot of soaring falsettos and just about
the word "high" in jsut about every song in this new "joy" album.
After all, we all know what gives Bono the most joy.

So closed minded people, admit it and see the truth. Bono uses coke.
Some of us smoke cigarettes, some are addicted to coffee, some are
internet addicts. So Bono's addiction just happens to be coke. No
big deal as long as he still writes great songs and the band doesn't
break up. What makes him happy makes Wire happy, right?

Cheers y'all,

J
