City of Angels: Best Selling Release of '98

BURBANK, Calif., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The smash Warner/Reprise Records
soundtrack, ``Music From The Motion Picture City of Angels,'' with sales
approaching over six million worldwide, has emerged as the best selling
album to have been released in the United States in calendar year 1998. The
album beat out such heavyweight contenders as the Beastie Boys,
``Armageddon,'' N-Sync and Lauryn Hill.

``Music From The Motion Picture City of Angels'' features the hit songs
``Uninvited'' by Alanis Morissette and ``Iris'' by the Goo Goo Dolls, 1998's
Number One Most-Played Single on Top 40 radio (also heard on the group's new
Warner Bros. Records release, ``Dizzy Up The Girl''). Additionally, the
album contains the track ``Angel,'' by Sarah McLachlan, which is also
available on the artist's Arista Records release, ``Surfacing.''

Other key tracks on ``Music From The Motion Picture City of Angels'' include
selections from Peter Gabriel, Paula Cole, U2, Jude, Eric Clapton, Jimi
Hendrix and more.

In other ``City of Angels'' news, the album has been nominated in the
Favorite Soundtrack category for the upcoming American Music Awards, which
will be aired Monday, January 11th, 1999 on ABC Television.

Commenting on the phenomenal success of ``Music From The Motion Picture City
of Angels,'' Reprise Records President Howie Klein remarked, ``At a time
when music and movie tie-ins are as much marketing events as creative
collaborations, it's gratifying to see an album which not only enhanced the
cinematic experience but went on to become a success in purely musical terms
as well. 'City of Angels' attracted great talent and the result is a great
album.''
