The art of words

Hey all,
First of all, I want to plug my story again, my interpretation of "Stay
(Faraway, So Close)" on this web site
http://users.skynet.be/U2-POPSMART/index.html. Please read this and give me
your comments. I do want to be a published writer some day and constructive
criticism from my peers is important to me.
Second, I really do think Bono is a beautiful person through out. And I do
believe that he did post on Wire. Reading the last set of posts made me want
to cry. How can some of you be so judgemental? I had the same problem with
the audience that surrounded me at the Columbus Popmart. U2 and Bono are just
four men trying to make music, trying to give a little color to this world,
and I can't believe that so many people complain about it. So what if Bono
referred to himself as our "leader". Please, how many of you out there in
casual conversation talk so admirably about him? I mean, some of you can be
so arrogant. He's just trying to get a point across, he doesn't appreciate
people shitting all over his name. And after reading all those posts, he did
have the decency to refer to us as angels and wished God to bless us. I know
that since he is in the public eye, Bono realizes that he will experience some
of the less amicable comments he has in the past. But he does have the right
to give his own two cents. And I feel sorry for that one man who decided to
drop from Wire because of all of this.
Well, I think I'll hang out for a while longer, I do get some insight from
this list. I just want to say that U2 continue to inspire me in my art and
writing. Their music came to me at a very dark time in my life when I felt
the burn from the hatred that follows extreme prejudice. Bono's words helped
me to realize my own personal beauty and that no matter what, everyone is
beautiful in their own way, we should learn to appreciate everyone for the
person he or she is.
So even though Bono and the boys are famous and rock stars, they are just
four men trying to get through this life the best way they can. We should
appreciate them for that. You know, they could call it quits tomorrow and
there would be no more U2. Music is an art form that is an important
contribution to humanity. It gives rise to creativity and personal
expression, as U2 helped me to realize. May I just say, to anyone who is
still with me, please don't be so judgmental. As you know now, what you say
may get back to whom you may be talking about, and feelings may seriously be
hurt. To Bono, I apologize. There are some of us who really do appreciate
what U2 does for us and see you as men worthy of respect. I've never felt let
down by you, nor felt offended by anything you'd conveyed in your songs. And,
being one of Gavin's Angels, the same goes for you. If you ever come to
Dayton, look me up, we'll go out for coffee. I'd love to talk to you about
writing in general. Maybe you could give me some tips to help in the future.
My heart goes out to all of you, U2 is about peace and love, let's show it
all, God bless you all, and continue to get down and funky,
Maria
