I declare non-drug week on Wire...

Hello all.

It's getting hot out there in Wire land. So to help cool the conversations
that are flying around on the drug topic, I'd like to declare non-drug week
on Wire. Too many posts on this issue have been lacking any thought, and
it's not going away if we keep dredging it up. So starting tommorrow (for the
benefit of those on the digest) I say we stop talking about it. No more
discussion of drugs, of u2 on drugs, of anything related to drugs...just stop.

I'm not trying to say we shouldn't discuss these things. Just take a week
to sit back and think about your next post on the subject...probably after
not being stirred up by one of the many sides, many will have little to say.
Those that want to continue the thread will have had a week to sit back and
think about what they are talking about, and perhaps will take the time to
look at what they have said in the past, and what others have said.

So from December 10th to the 17th just say no to drugs on wire...(couldn't
resist that one!) If you feel that the issue must continue, do so after
that time. I'd just like to see the list get away from the topic for a bit.
If you must post, avoid the topic, come up with some new interesting thread,
and lets show some holiday spirit in the coming week.

Let's see...some possible threads to replace the drug issue...

How to have a u2-y christmas...do you decorate your tree with santa bono
pictures? Do you play Christmas Baby Please Come Home on repeat? Or do
you wait until New Year's to find that radio station that will play New
Year's Day after Old Ange Syne...I personally do the latter...and have found
one two years running much to the dismay of my friends. Let us know how
U2 enters your life during the holidays...There's probably a few people out
there that don't even know U2 has done a Christmas song...

A lot of people use Bono's characters in their email addresses...the fly,
macphisto (see my address), or u2 related items such as lemons and the like.
If you have a U2 related email for the list, why did you choose the one you
did? And if it's one of the characters Bono plays, what does that
character represent to you? I think this one could be interesting...I'll
explain my love of macphisto at a later date...

Anyway remember non-drug week starts tommorrow...December 10. Be lenient the
first day as people on the digest are sometimes a day out of the loop on
some of these events. Let's see what we can do with the list that's positive,
shows our love of u2, and may brighten a few people's days.

Aaron
