RE: NO U2 at Peace Consert?

Someone was asking about why U2 didn't play at the Nobel Peace Prize
concert. These are the reasons that I came up with at the top of my head.

1. The announcement regarding the recipients wasn't made until Oct, which
meant that there was only two months between the announcement and the
actual awards.
Now, it is a fact that no media outlets are given any hints before the
Nobel committee make their statement. This is a very secretive thing, but
one has to assume that the artists that DID infact appear had prior
knowledge of the recipients so contracts and contacts could be made.

2. The Nobel Concert is not a rock and roll gig. It is infact a galla, with
a balanced mix between Norwegian and international artists. Quite frankly I
don't think U2 was ever considered as participents at the concert. (At
least that's the impression I got from the email I received from the
organizer of the concert ). I think U2 is simply too big of a band to
appear at a consert like this. I don't think they wanted to cause any
hysteria or anything like that. This does NOT mean that the organizers
aren't aware of U2's contribution to the peace process, but simply the fact
that U2 wasn't what they were looking for.

Now, I might be totally wrong here, so if anyone knwos something else, let
me know.
