Irish/American politics as usual....

I now understand it more fully when our Irish friends ask us please not
to disucuss Irish politics on this list. They have to read about it in
the morning papers and they don't want to have to see it here. However
there are those here who don't see it in the morning paper and are
greatly interested so the Irish political threads make their way back
here again leaving our Irish friends gritting their teeth and scrolling
past threads on this list. Also remember the thread that made the
rounds several months ago...about how Americans couldn't possiblly know
what it was like in Northern Ireland...now it appears that Europeans
couldn't possible understand the interworkings of the American politcal
scene..guess what? They know a lot more than we are giving them credit
for.

Now it seems it is Americans asking us to please not talk about this
here...I guess we will just have to grit our teeth and use the scroll
bar as well...and it can be argued that it is U2 related since Bono's
opinion was written in the Rolling Stone...btw..did anyone read the
letters to the editors in the current issue of Rolling Stone (Jewel on
the cover) concerning that very article? Pick it up and give it a
peruse. Interesting...some of the exact same opinion expressed here.
