If you haven't gotten it already, try (Irish) Bill Graham's "U2: The
Early Days". Though it was originally written to correct all the factual
errors and omissions in Eamon Dunphy's "The Unforgettable Fire", it stands
up on it's own as well! For a bit of heavier lifting, try John Water's
"Race of Angels". Problem is, both books are imports, so it might take
some effort to find them in the US.

Oh, and don't _totally_ shun anything "trashy" or lightweight out there;
some of it can be quite funny. Years ago, I found an Italian book on U2,
which seems to have been published c.1984 or thereabouts, which actually
includes the lyrics to "Sunday Bloody Sunday"--in Italian. I have no
idea how _accurate_ the translation is, but the mind still boggles at the
mere concept...

You can find all sorts of interesting things in New York City! :)
