I think all these rumors about U2 touring would not be about massive
shows but will deal more with small shows. U2 will win back America
and prove the media wrong. Here's what they'll do:

- Tape an MTV Unplugged performace (they showed interest in unplugging
as seen in their b-stage Popmart songs). They might even release it
as an album. This will be an avenue for Edge to prove that he can
play even witout his guitar effects, echoes and reverbs.

-Release a boxed set of rarities and oddities that are limited
edition, and numbered with all the works (including the Upper Deck
hologram sticker as seal of authenticity)

-Do a duet with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, or Celine Dion, and
have Babyface produce the song (with assistance from Eno and Lanois of
course). Boyzone can do some backing vocals

-Have one concert taped and have it come out in HBO. (preferably a
free concert in New York's Central Part)

-Have Bono play movie roles (more particularly Million Dollar Hotel)

-Perform in Conan`O Brien, Jay Leno, and David Letterman. They migh
even appear in Magic Johnson's show.

-Write more poppy tunes. Hopefully half of the album will hve poppy
and catchy tunes while the other tracks will be dance, acoustic,
semi-grunge, and other stuff that appeal to a selected market.

-Go under the Interscope label or Mercury label instead of Island to
signify a change of image.

-Appear in more Rick Dees type raio shows, host MTV shows by beign
guest Veejays.

-Put in live versions or remakes of their most successful hits
(Billboard sharts speaking) as the bionus tracks to teir new singles
instead of B-sides.

Well, I can hear the chants of all of you saying that this is a
sell-out. Then again, you all said the GH album was a sellout but now
you all love it. So I'm sure if this theory of mine about U2's new
direction will materialize, you'd still love it in the end.

Cheers,

J
