Leafing through the latest issue of "Q" (with Stipey on the cover) there
was an article concerning the fact that this was the first time R.E.M.
was actually on hand to collect their "Q"award..they showed some
pictures with'excuses' why the band hadn't made it before...one is of
Peter Buck standing with his "Q" award with The Edge, Larry and Adam
applauding and the excuse was that they couldn't make it in 1992
because..."U2 mugged Peter"...I remember reading about that episode in
Bill Flanagan's book...about how Peter Buck was following U2 around on
the Zoo tour and had to be talked into going into a dressng room and
present the award to U2...and have U2 present the same award back to him
(different categories of course..and "Q" only sent one award..)Funny
story, and a funny picture when you know the story behind it...U2 looked
relaxed and Peter Buck looked like he'd rather be in Philadelphia... :)
