origins of "dance as if no one is watching"

happy new year, wire-folk:

something strange occurred in a small town in minnesota on christmas
eve: visiting my parents for the holiday, i found myself in their small
presbyterian church in rochester, MN on christmas eve - i noticed in the
bulletin the title of the sermon "dance as if no one is watching" - THIS
SENTIMENT SOUNDS STRANGELY FAMILIAR, i thought to myself...

i then recalled a quote attributed to bono at the close of several wire
posts: "dance as if no one is watching, work like you don't need the
money, love like you've never been hurt" - or something - this is a
rough paraphrase

at the end of the sermon, the minister recited the above quote and said
he had gotten it via email from one of his children..

WOAH, i thought - this is WILD - so my question is, is the above
sentiment in fact bono's, or is it just some nice thought which, through
the oral-electronic tradition, had grown to be attributed to him??

if these were in fact his words, i thought it was rather remarkable that
they formed the underlying theme of a christmas eve service in a small
midwestern town...

take care,

emily (in philly)

p.s.

if this mininster's child is a wireling, feel free to reveal yourself...
