Defination of arrogant: Overbearingly proud; haughty.
Strange, I never really thought Bono was arrogant.
In the 80s, I always thought Bono really believed in the
band and some of the things he said about them sounded
arrogant because of that belief (will, now we can see
he was right, can't we?:).
He's also said that during the 80s they were very
defensive, too. Sometimes that came across as
arrogance.
Now, in the 90s, I suppose some people could consider
some of the things he says and does as arrogant, but
I once again put it down to his total belief in what
the band is capable of doing. I think part of it
is an act, too :) Bono loves to jerk people's chain ;)
I've always seen a lot of Bono's responses and actions
as very toungue-in-cheek.
Real arrogance is just something I've never considered
U2 to have. They've never been overbearingly proud or
haughty.
