I can't tell you for sure what kind of cross Bono was swingin' or
wearing, but I can tell you that there are tons of different types
of crosses that are and have been used in Christianity.
I've seen books on Christian symbolism that have pages and pages of
different types of crosses used over the past 2000 years. A lot of
them were not configured like the most commonly used cross today.
Bono's was probably some sort of Celtic variation on it.
The church I go to uses the Tau Cross. It's shaped like a capital
T and has a snake coiled around the top bar. It's an old and
perfectly legitimate Christian cross. It's an interesting subject.
I like unusual and obscure cross designs. Take a look at a book
on the subject whenever you wandering into a library next time.
