we're looking at the cd singles when "the sweetest
thing" comes on at full volume. things are not as
i planned, so i escape to experience it by myself
amongst all the other patrons in the store, but
she follows and points to a monitor near the ceiling.
the video is on, and we're both smiling like this
is the best thing that has happened to us the whole
year. we stand there watching. three minutes of pure
feelings, a quiet moment, brilliant in its understated
significance, destined and resigned to be magnified to
"deep and meaningful" proportions at a future date,
simple for now. Good. best part of the whole trip,
personal favorites aside.
