"Bad"

Hi!
I'm new to the list so I'm a little nervous about posting. I have been
following U2 since 1982 and personally prefer the work they did in the 80's
as compared to the 90's. That's taking nothing away from what they did this
decade, just a personal preference probably because I "grew up" with the
band during the 80's. I have also been opened up to the incredible amount of
U2 info on the interent.
I visited a site recently, sorry I can't remember which one, and they take a
lot of fan polls. One poll asked "What live version of Bad is the best you
ever heard?" Over 2,000 people responded and to my complete surprise, the
majority picked the version from "Wide Awake in America" followed by the
version from "Rattle and Hum" and then "Live Aid".

This shocked me! "Bad" is no doubt, U2's rock and roll anthem, though by the
5:00 minute versions of it they did in the 90's you couldn't tell, and to
that end, there is NO BETTER version of it then the one they did during
"Live Aid". 13 minutes of raw energy and emotion and a version of a single
song during a great event that catapulted the band to mega-stardom and
tripled record sales world wide. The "Wide Awake in America" version is
fine, though it isn't really live, just a soundcheck with audience noise
dubbed in later, but it doesn't compare to "Live Aid". The version they did
in Chicago on 3/21/85 is also top notch! Does anyone have an opinion as to
the best version of "Bad" they have heard? Thanks!

Bill
