I've heard too much Depeche Mode bashign the past few days. If they suck so
much, how come they're still around 18 years after "Speak And Spell"? David
Gahan happens to have a beautifully powerful voice(listen to "Stripped" for
Christ's sakes!), and Martin Gore is easily, along with Prince and Sting, one
of the three best songwriters of the last twenty years. Wallpaper music my
ass. If that's what wallpaper music is, I want it plastered on ever wall in
my house. Depeche Mode is only, along with New Order and Kraftwerk, one of
the three most important electronic groups of all time. I understand that,
unfortunately, many U2 fans no appreciation for anything that's not by U2. I
think that's very sad, because U2 fans also have a reputation of being hateful
people(ask around, you'll see). Bottom line, Depeche Mode is still absolutely
brilliant(funny, Depeche Mode seemed to have a REAL new song for their 86-98
collection, while Bono and co. were busy trying to churn out an 11 year old
bubble gum song, more than likely to get phony fans back on their side).
Depeche Mode's music has heart, rhythm, and plenty of emotion. Those of you
who can't seem to see that, keep your opinions to yourself, and have some
diginity...it's pretty easy taking cheap shots at David Gahan, so GROW UP!
There's more than plenty of ways to go after U2, and you'd go after anybody
who pointed them out (case in ponit, U2 sucks page...grow up, lots of people
don't like U2 at all, WHO CARES?). Leave Depeche Mode alone...I'll say it
now, they are U2's peers, and they always will be.

Absolutely no regrets,
Matt
