Wirelings all,
I just saw the news/rumour that U2 is slated to perform at a salute to
The Man in Black himself, Mr. Johnny Cash in April (along with Springsteen,
Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, etc.). So, I got to thinking, what would they
play, if in fact, the news is true?
First thought - The Wanderer, since it's their only real contact with
Cash. But that won't work, because as they've said, it wasn't written for
either Bono's voice or his point of view. . . Only Johnny can sing that one
So, here's my idea! The Dalton Brothers play instead and do both
'Lucille' and 'Lost Highway' - the crowd goes nuts, the critics laud U2's
ability to 're-invent' themselves, the single goes to #1 everywhere, Garth
Brooks wants to book a double-header tour (with ticket prices no higher
than $20) and U2-mania strikes again
ahhh, it's a lovely thought (LOL!)
