Hey there guys,

So I just got back from my little four month european
fling, right? (Ok, actually I've been back now for like a
month, but its just now that I'm back in school in the good
ol' US of A and can sit myself down in front of a computer
and don't have to pay out the arse for it.) And let me
just say, if you're a U2 fan, there ain't no place on earth
better to be than Europe. In relation to the states, U2 is
so fricking big there. Like everywhere I went, I heard U2,
saw u2 related merchandise, and they still play U2
willingly on the radio. It was great. I met tons of kids
from all over europe (and Australia) and they totally dug
U2 as well, more so then 20 year kids in the states who
look at me like i'm a freak when I say I like the band. It
was just a really interesting observation. The best city (
I didn't make it to dublin) for U2, IMHO, was London. i
went ass crazy there buying stuff left and right. Also, at
the Madame Tussaud's in Amsterdam (I didn't go in the
museum) they have a wax Bono head. I thought was pretty
rad too, till someone slammed into me with their bike.

So anywhoo, random thought: I was in Berlin one weekend
and I went to that big victory column in the Tiergarten (I
can't spell the German name of the statue, but its winged
victory on a column), you know the statue thats in "Wings
of Desire" (which is a really good movie if yer looking for
something to do sometime) and is also kind of alluded to in
the video for "Faraway, So Close". I paid my 1DM and
started my climb up to the top of the column. That was
when I noticed the plethora of U2 graffiti people had left
on the inside of the statue. Which at first I thought was
cool, but then I thought it was pretty disrespectful.
Anyone else know what i'm talking about??

I probably shouldn't even talk about this, cos whenever i
talk about berlin it gets me in a fight with a german, or
another person from Europe.

Oh well,

Copping the "Dumb American" defense,
Meg Loudin
