U2, REM, and "Dirty Day"

Someone asked if there were any Wirelings who were also REM fans. Count
me in. While they don't have U2's versatility, they have a very original
sound. When they and U2 first came along, rock was being dominated by
heavy metal and "corporate" bands like Journey and REO Speedwagon.
Hearing both U2 and REM was a breath of fresh air.
Someone else posted a note asking if anyone else really liked "Dirty
Day". Oh, my God, I LOVE that song! It puts me in a trance. It's a
really pretty song that's really dark and brooding.
