The song Bono helped Stipe with was "Walk Unafraid" on the 'Up' cd..
Bono also liked 'Up"..(Q magazine) and has often complimented Stipe's
singing....and Michael Stipe is a fan of U2's...he drove 6 hours to the
Las Vegas PoPMart to see them because "I'm a U2 fan'..and he liked ths
show well enough to follow them around on their European leg that
summer. Bono has said he thought Stipe was a better pop star than
himself because he was so enigmatic..something Bono tried to be at one
time but just couldn't do. I guess Bono just likes to talk too much.
:) However looking at and reading recent interviews it looks like Stipe
is taking a page out of Bono's book by being a basically friendly open
person...something people have insisted he was away from the press
(including Bono and Bill Flanagan) and for some reason he has decided to
let that come through now.
