"James Joyce once wrote: We cannot change the country: let us change
the subject."

James Joyce is no one to quote about Ireland. He left Ireland in disgust
and returned only once before his death. He also wrote :

"Ireland is the Sow that eats its own young."

Does anyone know his beautiful short story, "Araby"?
