The meaning of "All I Want Is You" video

Shouldn't someone add this to the FAQ? I know it was a big question with
me for a long time until I saw the movie "City of Angels" and then I
finally made the connection. I knew that AIWIY was made after "Wings of
Desire" but I didn't see that movie, so it didn't really help. If you
haven't seen either movie, and don't want a spoiler, don't read this post,
cause I'm gonna spoil. Big time.

The deal is, at least in City of Angels, Nicolas Cage plays an angel who
falls in love with a human -- Meg Ryan. She's dating this guy who she
doesn't really love, and Cage kinda wants her to break things off with him.
She's really in love with Cage, but she knows she can never have him
because he's an angel. He decides to "fall to earth" to become human to be
with her. They share a couple of glorious days together, and then she gets
hit by a truck and dies because she went biking down a hill with her eyes
closed. He's devastated, of course, but decides that it was worth it to
give up eternity to be with her, and he will live his days out as a human
in her memory.
I personally HATED the ending to this movie. I thought it sucked, but
that's just me.
I don't know exactly how similar this plot is to Wings of Desire, but I
think they are pretty close. Yes I realize that this video was made years
before City of Angels came out.

Anyway, so the point is, my interpretation of the AIWIY video is this:
the midget is an angel who is in love with the girl, but she's kind of
involved with the big guy. The bald guy would be the Dennis Franz
equivalent (a human friend of the angel). The angel/midget climbs the rope
to "fall to earth" to be with her (hence the reason he flies out of the
tent, imo), but after he does, she dies (the video doesn't show us how),
and then we see the burial, where he tosses the engagement ring on her
casket. He is full of regret, but the bald guy helps him move on.

Anyway, that's just how I see it, and I'm sure someone else out there sees
it differently. I think this is something that all fans should get to know
though, because for years I thought the video was one big acid-trip. Ok,
not really. I knew they had something going on upstairs, but hell if I knew.

Regards,
Tanya
