Jeez, where did you get that view of the Spin article.
That thing is pretty much discounted as a piece of
rubbish. It was written by the boyfriend of one of the
opening band members that wasn't even recognized as
a journalist. He was more or less a fringe hanger-on on
the tour that had that alt. rock fan/musician attitude
that if a band is big and sucessful it's the anti-christ.
The article didn't get much respect from anyone, even
other journalists. I can't imagin that Bono's that worried
about threats on his life. He's always wandering around
Dublin on pub crawls with his buddies. He doesn't seem to
mind facing 40 to 80 thousand people (or more) in any
country they can get into as often as possible. He's
constantly happy to meet fans on the street, at his
hotel and after shows to spend time with them. None of
these people are screened or searched and he never seems
to have more than one bodyguard with him, if he has any.
The bodyguard is used mostly to control hysterical fans
and to shoo them off when Bono finally *has* to leave.
Bono dosen't like having to have security.
If you've read the Flanagan book "U2 at the End of the World"
which chronicled the whole Zoo tour, you'd know that and
you'd know that Bono loved sneaking away from his bodyguard.
Each memeber of the band seems to have only one personal bodyguard
although it might seem to be more when they are all together.
Of course, you might believe that the whole book is lying,
but I can't figure out where your coming from with this
post. I doesn't make sense to me.
