These days, in which very little is created, and the majority of artists just repeat
themselves and the past, this kind of mistake is pretty commom. I've met some fans
who actually thought the same, and they were surprised to find it's a cover song.
And it happens also because people don't know a lot about old bands. But I was very
happy to tell my friends it's a Stones song, and that they should find out more about
them (specially the old "them", hehe :-)

Speaking of which, the point of this post in fact is to make some comments about
Rattle & Hum. I've heard that U2 was criticized for making the covers that appear on
the album, and playing with B.B. King, B. Dylan - it was said they were trying to
compare themselves to such artists, who are legends, and they were called
pretentious. I know this is probably commom sense for most U2 fans, but I never got
the feeling that they were trying to prove they are in the same ground of those
artists. I always thought that they were just paying tribute to these people who are
their idols. Therefore, when they play a cover of the Stones they do it because they
enjoy doing it, and the objective is not to sound better than the original, but to
see "how do we sound playing this song, which we happen to love?" For the fun of it.
Like some people said, U2 versions for Paint it Black or Fortunate Son were not so
bright. Nevertheless, I'm glad to see they like these songs too, as well as Helter
Skelter and others, and I loved to listen U2 performing them.

I wish that on their next releasings they continue to include cover songs as B-sides,
and play some on their tours too. It would be just great if they performed something
by INXS.

Best wishes,

Joice

"some days you use more force than it's necessary" ------> can u believe I listened
to this song yesterday on a radio station? It's a government station here in Brazil,
and they don't have to play only hits ;-)
