Everybody usually agrees that POP wasn't marketed very well, but seriously
we don't really care cause we have all the albums anyway right? But it's
cool to hear the music on the radio and the wireling who wrote the other
day that there are no songs that are really anthems from POP or Zooropa is
correct, and it's kinda sad, although Zooropa really lacks a song that
could serve this function. POP though has plenty in some respeccts. One
night around midnight on the local alt-rock station here in HOuston they
actually played Do YOu Feel Loved, and it meshed so welll with the radio
y'know. I don't think it was a lack of songs that made POP have no
anthem, but it was the fact that certain csongs were not released as
singles, gone included. Who else has heard DYFL everywhere on Sports
highlight shows or other type of televeision show. The only problem I see
is that even with the techno influence, DYFL sounds a lot like Mysterious
Ways, ETBTTRT, and other AB era songs or b-sides which may not have been
to U2's ultimate goal. I think this anthem
thing though is definitely aan interesting thread...

sorry to be so so long winded
Ben
