U2 with Stadiums

I live in Australia, and last night I saw on SBS a doco entitled the
"architecture of pop concerts". It was interesting in that it presented
the a short history of stadium rock, and interviews with Fischer and Park,
Bono, Eno and Mick Jagger. I really understand now, this is my
perspective, why U2 play stadiums, and why there shows are so good. It is
still rock n' roll. The essence is still there. I've see Voodoo Lounge
and Popmart, and both are incredible; both have ambition. Bridges to
Babylon also looks great; maybe even better than Popmart! The point is,
both the Rolling Stones and U2 have the choice to play stadiums; that's
why they are the biggest bands in the world today. Most bands don't.

I've never seen U2 in an arena, or a smaller hall. Popmart was the
greatest concert I have ever seen, and to me, outdoor stadium shows are
numero uno. The documentary last night made me appreciate even more the
intertwining spirals of rock and stadia, and I'd like to invite anyone
else who saw this last night to write to me and tell me what they thought!

Love

David
