Monday September 28th 1998

12:00 Noon

I went to lunch with some Co-workers one block from work.
Im holding the door open for my co-workers to arrive.
A man comes to me, and I say "I insist," while pointing in the direction
for the man to enter the restauraunt. The man smiles at me with
appreciation and enters. I smiled back at him.
That man was Patrick Stewart. Then still holding the door open, my
co-workers all file in, then Patrick Stewart comes back out, and smiles.

Thats it. Odd, that I would see him later that night.

5:45 PM

I meet Maggie (in black, I mean silver, I mean black, I mean silver) and
Lydon (A peeking tourist) at Madison Sq Park and we walk over to Pier 60
where the awards were to be held that evening.

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Maggie, Lydon, and I (David) all walk in past the paparazzi. They all
wanted to photograph us, since we were a stunning famous bunch, but we
didnt let them.

We see my friend Patrick Stewart but we opted not to say hello. Maggie
found a worm in her champagne, Lydon ate things that he didnt even know
what they were, and I just did art. We admired the view on the Hudson and
asked some guy to photograph us all. Litttle did we know that that "guy"
was receiving an award later that night for Public Radio International "The
World." It certainly is a small world.

We sit and finally meet Big Daddy Cool and his lovely wife Nancy.

7:30 PM - 10:30 PM

Dinner and Awards ceremony.

The usual crowd. People dressed in fashionable suits, dresses, and a few
dressed to stand out, be someone special that night and every night.
The usual whos who of famous famers. Famousees meeting famousees and
possible corporation-thought-to-be-bullshit, not present. All, I believe,
all were there for true reason and belief: ... in Human Freedom...

The awards were inlightining. Introducing me to new insights about how
strong and powerful the media can be in a positive way. Showing me truth
about whats across the globe and truth about what others are doing and not
doing. , and please excuse me, I say truth in a cautious way ,

Intense. It made me think, wonder and wander.
We here all support Amnesty in our hearts, right? But are we all really
involved?
Should we be? Am I? Are you? In any case - if youre not invovled now, get
invovled NOW!
There is no question, that Human Freedom is the ultimate sacrafice we can
make in our lives. We take for granted what others seek their entire life
time.

Richard Gere speaks from his heart for the Tibetian people.
Kenneth Cole's advertisting campaign: it had double meanings, we all knew that.
But I was confused. Was it Kenneth who thought of the quotes or his amazing
design and marketing strategic teams?
Muhammid Ali- he speaks with his eyes.. a man with sooooo much to say.
Expression and experience evolves and rotates in his eyes. They deliever a
romantic kindess to the people around him.

And again, Im in puzzlement - but should I be? As we left, the famousees
all left in their black and white limousinees to goto their rich hangouts
and forget about the third-world. Or maybe Im quite wrong, or maybe Im in a
dream land where I do not belong. Or maybe we are a dream - but the lack of
freedom, that 'they' do not have - it bugs the living shit out of me!!

Remebering good points -
America puts more emphasis on Clinton's cigar playing with Monica
then the people doing the Sarajevo Shuffle!
It bugs me.

Freedom.

Sorry I cannot challenge Big Daddy Cool's report.
Our reports are different yet similar.

And thankyou for the opportunity to represent our
small, yet large, powerful and loving,
Wire
