Why would U2 care about bootleggers?? Hmmm lets see.... 1) It's
illegal. 2) It robs them of their rights as artists to distribute their
work as they see fit. 3) Its a breach of copyright. 4)As a more
enlightened band, U2 actually care about their fans and dont like to
hear about people selling their work for exorbitant amounts of money, or
exploiting their fans to make profit. 5) (Ooooh and this is the
killer.....) *gasp* It robs them of monies they have EVERY RIGHT to
earn.

>I mean if they'd only want they could stop all the bootlegs market.

Oh you mean they aren't just a rock and roll band they are actually
God's? Nothing short of Godhood would enable anyone (I dont care how
rich, famous, talented etc etc etc) to put a stop to bootlegging.

>Did you know that Metallica during their concerts allowed

>Think if u2 would allow this!!!!!

Yes lets think about that shall we.....Im not a laywer or anything but
by doing that (I think) U2 would effectivly be legally waving any
copyright on any song performed under that kind of environment. Not to
mention screwing with the distribution rights blah blah blah.

If U2 decide that they dont care about that (and get permission from
Polygram) and set aside an area for bootleggers....would they have it
near the stage? If so would they be charging a higher (considering the
fact that these people would most likely be selling their recordings a
MUCH higher price) ticket price for that section? Would it be fair to
the people who line up for days to get front row U2 tickets and have
them BEHIND a bunch of people who only want to exploit the concert they
are attending?

At least in Australia, Metallica played much smaller venus than
U2...it might be practicle for Metallica to do something liek that but
it'd be a nightmaare for U2.

>Certainly Mr Paul Mc Guinness would get a fucking heartache all the

Heaven forbit a BUSINESSMAN get a tad upset over illegal dealings that
cost him and his clients money. Sheesh.

>And now the crappy story about the little money they raised with
>the Popmart tour!! Only 10 milion dollars.... :(
>Ain't enough the 50 milion dollars they got for the Greatest hits?

I dont recall any of the U2 boys crying poor. One magazine (or
newspaper or whatever) gets hold of a story about U2's business failings
and all of a sudden everyones making out like U2 think they are broke. I
wouldnt be at all surprised if they were upset over that german indoor
entertainment thing, but I think they'd be more than grateful they broke
even on Popmart....much less made a profit.

>I don't know if Bono&co. are selling their asses.... Poor guys.....

Hmmm U2 "sold out" the day they signed with CBS to make U2 Three, way
back in 1979...so this whole is U2 selling out thing is irrelevant and
OLD! Get over it....U2 are a band that is fantastically talented, and as
a result they are wildly popular, and as a result companies like
Polygram want to pay them alot to secure them with their companies which
enables Polygram to then make more money, as a result of that U2 get
great advertising and backing and sell albums, as a result of that U2
make some money, as a result of that U2 can afford to tour, as a result
of that U2 makes a bit more money and sell more albums, as a result of
that Polygram wants to pay them more so Polygram can make more money.

The point of that little (rather simplified but oh well...) story is
that this so called "selling out" started with U2 being talented. If the
sound of a cash register is louder than "Bad" or "Sunday Bloody Sunday"
or whatever song...move on. If dollar signs get in the way of the art
then you have the CHOICE to not listen anymore. Im personally sick of
people who feel victimised or betrayed because U2 make money. It's
nothing personal people, its just called being a successful musician.
Sheesh!

>Maybe next time we'll see them live we'll have to pay 100 dollars and
>see Adam playing on a chair

I'd pay $100 to see Adam strapped to a chair ;).

>due to the fact they have said they are too tired and too old for
>another world tour in the stadiums!!!

I'll just assume your being hypothetical....if not can we have your
source please?? Nahhhh ....hypothetical.

>Come on guys move your ass or i'll come to kick your ass!!!
>You have still a long way to go!!

Well "moving their arses" is exactly what they are doing, in the
studio doing some heavy duty recording for the next album. If
predictions are correct there will only have been a 2 year gap in
between Pop and Next Album, with a tour, a video, a coupla singles and a
Best Of compilation in between. U2 havent moved their arses so fast
since like 1992.
