I usually just lurk here (one & wire)... mostly when Des alerts me to some
specific post. Not to long ago (a few minutes), she made me aware of the
post below. I'd like to voice my opinion on the below content as I am in
total disgust.
I believe that what Island/Polygram is doing is ILLEGAL, or at least
unethical. Even if they still maintain that US copies will be 'capped' to
maintain the 'limited' status, they are still libel for their official press
releases stating record stores would have ONE opportunity to order the GH
limited CD (see
http://www.interference.com/tubed/news/u2_bsides_press_release.htm). If they
do allow stores to re-order, they have conducted business in a fraudulent
manner with false press statements and creating a false sense of urgency.
I do NOT think this is a new plan per Polygram.
Notice that the only place the limited CDs were not numbered, was the US
(correct me if I'm wrong). This just happens to be the same place that they
plan to allow re-orders?!
I'm not calling for a class action lawsuit or anything....
I just remember some lyrics....
