Saddam and U2

Well, I'd like toapologize about my comments regarding Saddam and U2
(see http://www.wildheart.org/archives/wire/1998/12/20/0012.html ). I
guess I did not know the full extent of the evil in Saddam. I guess I
just could not understand how Saddam could be so evil and yet still
very much adored by almost teh entire population. It amazes me also
the he comes out with these "God is on our side" kind of statements to
the public. I guess suggestion that U2 record their album in Bagdad
and them brining Saddam on stage was made ratehr errantly. Just a
question, are the US really blatant and explicit about them wanting
Saddam dead? Or are the bombings just supposedly to disarm Iraq?

Now for the U2 content. I guess U2 may have really spoke too soon
about a "joy" album. I would like to see how they react and respond
to this "joy" theme in the light of the world events that have
transpired. The whole world seems very uptight and unsure about the
new millennium. History has shown that it is usually during the end
and beginning of the centuries when events happen that shape and
change the world. The times we are in now are crucial and tension is
high. Pulling off a "joy" album amidst all this chaos would be quite
a remarkable thing. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Cheers,

J

PS: Khufu, I wasn't making a joke on my last post. I am no idiot too.
