Let's see, if you've read "U2 at the End of the World" you'll know
that Larry had a bad back problem that he was keeping undercontrol
by various holistic methods during the ZooTV period. He finally had
to have his back operated on and he was out of comission for about
3 months. That's when they brought Howie B. in to provide some
beats for them to work off of while Larry couldn't drum for them.
As for Bono being ill, it was mentioned by someone on the list
many months back that Bono got sick sometime in 1996 and lost about
30 pounds. It was someone that dosen't start unfounded rumors.
Now, losing the 30 pounds was a good idea (you must have seen
some of the photos from his Cuaban pimp with the goatee period;)
but acomplishing it through getting sick is the really hard way.
to do it :(
There wasn't much magazine/newspaper space devoted to these events,
but it did get mentioned in passing in a few stories. As we all
know, U2 doesn't like to have publicity about their private lives
if they can avoid it.
