I am the top E-string on Edge's guitar, lucky hey? Well the other day, i
was vibrating all over the place (Edge was playing I Will Follow) and
then he suddenly stopped. "Hey Bono", he cried. "Yup", replied the
B-Man, "I know what we can call the new album" Bono looked bemused,
"Look, you know that I always name the albums but im always open to
ideas." Edge responded with an aura of excitement "Lets call it State Of
Mind" to which Bono said "Edge, you suck". Edge went back to his corner
and strummed away on me for a while. Bono shouted across the room "Hey
Edge, have you been reading that Wire mailing list again, because that
album title is possibly the worst i have ever heard. I bet you got it
from the internet didnt you." Sullenly, Edge replied "Yeah, someone who
supposedly cleans this place (although i dont think anyone actually ever
does, there are still mars bar wrappers here from 1987) said that they
were reading a massive pile of our meeting notes. They just so happened
to spot a page amongst all of those notes with the album title on it. Of
course, we dont actually have meetings, its only Adam who goes into
meetings. Ever since we refused to call Achtung Baby "Adam" he has
refused to give any input into deciding album names. The thing was that
this story was so convincing, i honestly thought that maybe Adam had
tried to name the album, so i stole his idea. It didnt work though..."
Edge went back to his guitar playing. Under his breath, Bono said "Edge,
you prat"
It's true, take it from the mouth of an e-string. Would i lie to you, i
think not.
REMEMBER - DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR ON WIRE.....
