My town's fair, and Red Hill Mining Town

Hello Wire!

I'm at work with nothin' to do, so it's your lucky day, baby, for I got
yet *another* pointless, but interesting U2 story for y'all.
I went to this local fair the other night. I took 3 of my friends, and
I drove, so I was in charge of the radio (WOO HOO!). I was changin' the
stations like a mad lady, because it was just a bunch of crappy
commercials. THEN, thank God, I found "PRIDE" on!!! I was soooooo
stoked! And to make things even better, my friends were singin' along
too!

When we were almost to the fair, I was changin' the stations again. I
eventually found "Starin' At the Sun" on! RIGHT ON! My friend sittin'
next to me said, "I bet you change the stations until you find a U2 song
on, huh?" I said, "You betcha."

When we got into the fair, we went to the rides! Yeeeeeeeeeeeah, baby!
There's this one called the Zipper. It's freakin' scary as shite. It's
2 people in this tiny cage, bein' whirled around like CRAZY! It's
terrible..... but for some reason, I like it. ;) So, as the ride was
goin', I started prayin' outloud. "OH GOD! Don't let us die tonight.
Please!" Then Heather said, "NO! We need to sing a U2 song right now!"
So, as we were bein' thrashed around, we were beltin' out Red Hill
Mining Town. Actually, it was more like *screamin'* it out. "I'M
HANGIN' OOOON! YOU'RE ALL THAT'S LEFT TO HOLD ON TOOOO! I'M STILL
WAITING!!!" It was hilarious, because we'd be singin', "Looooooooove
slowly slipped away!" And as a big ol' drop hit us, it'd turn into,
"Looooooooove seen it's better.... AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" It was freaky!
A scary ride, but U2 made it so much better. :)

Sorry for wastin' space. I just liked this story, because it wasn't ME
who wanted to sing U2 this time. It was my friend. WOW! Oh, I'm so
proud of Heather! The woman's got good taste, honey child.

Later!
Nikki

P.S. Know what I love? I love the line in "Red Hill Mining Town" that
goes, "I can lose myself. You I can't live without." That's, like, the
*sweetest* thing I've ever heard. I love that.
