Americans are baffled

Yeah, you know, many Irish Americans donate to the IRA, but they are a
tiny minority. My impression was that Americans (and other people I met
from around the world) are simply baffled by the state of things in No.
Ireland. And I was in a good position to judge this, having been in
Ireland with an international group of people during the height of the
Drumcree standoff (and the deaths of the 3 boys). Pretty much everyone
I knew didn't understand, but not because they thought they had the
answer. They didn't understand because it goes beyond reason. And most
people are smart enough to realize that, no matter where they're from.
