I don't care if people are tired of reading about NI, the discussions over
homosexuality...I still really love this mailing list! Most of you throughout
the time(will be a year in October) ive been on here have been nothing but
kind helpful and full of heart which is why the main thing I'm getting sick of
reading on wire is people complaining about it. I mean right now it is an off
music time for the group, no new tours to rave over, no new albums to
review..so of course things are going to go off topic once in a while.. I
personally am enjoying reading the "Next U2" posts...my feelings are that
there won't be a worldwide wonder band for a while now, simply because most of
the "contenders" are only 5-6 years younger than u2 themselves.
I understand that some of you might be getting tired of bootleg
reviews..guess where I heard u2 today kind of posts..but what else are we
supposed to talk about? If we start talking about the political and religious
aspects of u2 than people start complaining of the preaching...if we start
getting silly and comment on our favorite members looks, then it is
superficial...if moral debates arise over some connection to the band or their
music, then we are being close minded....no matter what someone will get angry
or think their toes are being stepped on. and trust me I'm not innocent in
this point either.
The point I'm trying to make is that U2 write songs with no easy
answers...they leave a lot of the meanings up to the listeners...which means
they get fans of every background, political alignment and creed.... People
are beings with Very strong opinions, and that is what we need to remember if
we want to keep this list together during the "off time" As long as U2 keep
writing songs concerning 2 of 3 topics that are most volatile to discuss,
religion and politics...we will keep having discussions over them...and I
personally like reading a lot of them.

Still thinks Wire is quite hot,
Megan
