Some of you guys were, like, "HELLO NIKKI? Wake up! Of course the U.S.
had to bomb these terrorists! This is reality. R-E-A-L-I-T-Y." I
know, alright? I know that there wasn't much else that we could do. No
way should we sit back and do nothin'. I agree that we need to
retaliate. We need to show that they won't get away with these
terrorist acts anymore. I get it, OK? I'm not some hippy chick in
"La-La Land," protesting outside the White House, singin' "Give Peace A
Chance," so don't tell me to wake up to reality.
I didn't mean to come across as a total peace maker, love maker (even
though, maybe I *sorta* am. So sue me!). I only wanted to point out
how U2's songs on War really have got me thinkin'. It makes me wonder
if us retaliating with a bombing will really make things *better*. Will
the terrorists back off and go, "Whoa! We ain't messin' with you
Americans anymore. We'll stop. We're sorry." Or will it just give
them a reason to get us..... again? I don't know. I know nothing about
war; what's the "right" and "wrong" thing to do. It all just worries
me. It's very scary, and I have every right to not entirely agree with
America's decisions. We're messing with some very psychotic, dangerous
people, so I'm torn on what to do about it. I don't know. I don't know
what will make things right.
So, the bottom line? It's that I'm really confused. I want to teach
these bastards a lesson (eye for an eye!), but I also don't want my
country to bomb *anyone*! Some of y'all e-mailed me, sayin' things that
implied I was such a PEACE FREAK, livin' out of reality. Well..... back
off, OK? I'm takin' both sides into consideration, tryin' to be open
minded, and have some empathy. That's it. And U2's music inspires me
to try to examine all sides of the situation first. That's all.
Does ANYONE know what I'm sayin'?
Oy vey, this shit is so confusing! And that's all it is. Shit. War is
shit. The terrorists are major shits who took too many innocent lives
for no good reason, but I have no clue what do about `em; how to
retaliate. War is just shit.
