Let's rant about something new...

Did anyone else watch the VH-1 100 Best Rock N' Rollers Countdown that
was aired on Monday? Supposedly 600 musicians picked their favorite
artists, and the tallied responses composed the countdown.
Well.....many-a-things were very uncool on this countdown. First of
all, Elvis came in at 8!!! Now, that's just not right. Not that the
guys from 7-1 sucked, but come on....Presley is one of, if not THE,
most influential musician in rock. If he's not #1, than he's
definitely #2. No disrespect to the other bands, but Elvis is higher
up than the Rolling Stones and LZ. On top of that...Nirvana ranked in
somewhere around the 40 mark, but the Velvet Underground were up in
the 80s? What's with that? Nirvana beat some really big people in the
evolution of rock...and maybe they do deserve a spot on the list, but
the callibur of musical quality and creativity should be held
respectively in a countdown of this sort. On the other hand, Joy
Division and Pink Floyd didn't even make the cut. So....I'd like to
know what musicians were doing the voting...By the way, U2 came in at
29, which isn't bad. I suppose it's hard to decide who's the best when
there are so many influential artists out there, but I guess we should
look at what it was they were actually influencing...
