Wait a minute there Rob, let's take a better look
at this, shall we?

Alannis Morrisette's last album sold over 11 million
copies - just in the U.S.! One major reason for the success
of the "City of Angels" soundtrack is not U2, but
that Morrisette released her first new song since "Jagged
Little Pill" several years ago. Soon Morrisette
will have a brand new album out. The anticipation is high.
Morrisette is still "hip" with the young crowd. People
can't wait to hear her new song. Had you asked me
what I would have predicted the outcome to be,
I would have guessed Morrisette crushing U2.

But who won? U2!

And which U2 song beat Morrisette? A *remake* of a
U2 song that was released over a 11 years ago! In other
words, a remake of U2's own song is still able
to beat the highly anticipated NEW Morrisette song.
That's darn impressive! I don't write this to demean
Morrisette, but rather, to state that it just proves
that audiences are still drawn to U2.

I think this also shows how much U2 are appreciated.
When a remake of one of their older songs is loved
this much, it bodes VERY well for the future. Imagine
if U2 were to have a single this popular on their
next album? It could be "With or Without You"
all over again!

So while U2 may have "just" won this particular
radio popularity contest, I also think it proves
that U2 can still beat out the talented and
popular artists of today.

Ciao,

John
