just to report on such a u2ey day. popped into HMV today and what should i
hear blasting? "in the naaaame of love..." rattle and hum - very loud.
walking up to the big u2 display i see that the achtung baby singles have
been rerelesed in australia AGAIN. also here i find all the pop singles and
buying IGWSHA, my collection is nice and round. looking up momentarily
thinking "yay, this crappy day just stopped being crappy" i see on the huge
screen that otherwise escaped my attention, th WTSHNN clip playing. hanging
around waiting to be served i also watched with or "without or without
you", "all i want is you" and "desire". for thoose of you living in Oz, the
clips ran in the order of the rage special, so i wonder if somewhere there
was released a special press kit video with all the clips on it or if
someone working at HMV just taped it off rage. anyway... as i let u2 suck
yet more money out of my bank balance, i saw that the new HMV chart was in
and in extra big, extra important font was NUMBER #1 - SWEETEST THING, U2
(someone knowledgable tell me if that is only the store's chart, or the
national chart). anyway, U2 at no 1. is good yes, even if i think song is
good no. as i was walking to the bus i noticed the person walking infront
of me was wearing a shirt with 'rattle and hum bar grill north queensland'
written on it. no mention of u2, just a cartoon emu drinking a beer.

p.s. the limited edition disc is $40 here!! don't tell me someone isn't
making crazy amounts of money!
p.p.s. the sweetest thing WAS made sa double A-side with WTSHNN in
australia. a triple M dj played it once and the listener response was so
overwhelming that the single was put out as a double A-side. we are so
ahead of the times doen here in this antipodean region.
