Van Morrison in "Desire"?

Hello, Wirelings!
I stopped by my local Tower Records to see if they'd received the
PopMart video yet (they hadn't), and I ended up purchasing Van
Morrison's Greatest Hits (a great CD if you're looking for a Christmas
present idea)!! I've heard Van Morrison's "Gloria" before, but I
never realized how much U2's "Desire" sounded like Morrison's
"Gloria". Has anyone else noticed this too? Besides the obvious
similarities like the tempo and heavy guitar riffs and lyrics about
some incredible woman, I noticed a more subtle one: Bono hangs onto
the letter "I" in "Desire" in nearly identical fashion as Morrison
does when he's spelling out Gloria's name. This should have been my
Rocktropolis question! Of course, I think of this AFTER the fact.
Listen to Van Morrison's "Gloria" and then U2's "Desire" and see if
you hear the same thing. Let me know!!

8 more days until "PopMart: Live from Mexico City" hits the U.S. stores!
