I Missed PopMart: Tragic Story

Ok, so I get this e-mail from this kid ([email protected]) and he wants an
interesting u2 story. You want an interesting u2 story? Here you go, I'll
try not to make this too long. First of all, hello everybody! I've been a
subscriber to this list for a long time, but it is my first post. I'm
usually doing the newsgroup thing. Last February, I got tickets for U2's
PopMart Tour. I actually remember very clearly because I ditched my
girlfriend on Valentine's Day to make sure I would be able to get the
tickets which went on sale the morning of the 15th. And indeed, I got them.
:) I was the happiest guy in the WORLD! I had never been to a U2 concert
before. U2 means everything in the world to me, and I remember if I were
ever in a bad mood, I would just come home from school and look at those
tickets and a wave of pure joy would sweep over me. I couldn't wait! Well,
some bad news came...my parents decided that we were gonna go away for a
week as a family, and they told me that they were planning on leaving on
July 1 (well guess what...I had tickets for PopMart Foxboro!). Obviously, I
told them that they'd have to go without me because I had U2 tickets and I
wasn't missing this for the world. Well, as you can imagine, that didn't go
over very well. It was the last time we'd spend time together as a family
before I went off to college, blah blah blah, so I had to give up my
tickets. I was almost in tears. Well anyway, it's more than a year later,
and thinking about missing PopMart *still* haunts me. I'd give an arm and a
leg to see U2. Anyway, to the point: I am going to Ireland in September.
I'll be spending 3 months in Dublin and then 3 months in Belfast as part of
my school's study abroad program. So I'll be back in Boston in March 2000.
Rumor has it that U2 is working on a new CD as we speak, and guess what
happens if they release that CD in the middle of next year? Yup, that means
they start touring...and if they tour Boston before I get back to Boston,
that means I will have missed them again. That is devastating if any of you
are as big U2 fans as I'd imagine you to be. Anyway, I just thought I'd
share this with you, since it is my primary concern in life. :-) Don't pity
me, just say a little prayer to the gods that U2 doesn't start touring
Northeastern United States before March 2000! And [email protected], I
hope you enjoyed your story. ;p
